Our podcast has new episodes! In this season, Marie-Kristin Boden is responsible for the moderation and production and has exciting interview partners on board. Nico was given his first computer as a present when he was six years old and signed his first employment contract while still at school at the age of 15. After training as an IT specialist for application development, he decides to study computer science – and abandons his studies after three semesters. Part of his life is his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which he was only diagnosed with at the age of 31. In this episode, we talk about how Nico looks back on his time at university since his late diagnosis, why he doesn’t think the term „disorder“ is appropriate and about learning math during his studies.

Law studies are notorious for being particularly learning-intensive and competitive. This degree program stands out not only because of the high dropout rates, but also because students tend to drop out in higher semesters. The big hurdle is the first state examination. Sakin talks about what it was like for her to fail this exam and be left without a degree after five years. We talk about the consequences of extreme pressure to perform, what recovery looks like for Sakin and what can come after the phase of deep exhaustion. For Sakin: a new start in the form of a humanities degree.

In this episode, Marie interviews herself! She didn’t drop out of university – but it took her quite a long time. Together with you, she looks back on her bachelor’s degree, talks about the effects of her chronic illnesses (depressive episodes and endometriosis) on her studies and reflects on what the production of this podcast series has done to her.
